Is India Accepting Same-Sex Marriage
Posted by in Best Wedding Planner On August 05, 2019

On 6 September 2018, the Supreme Court of India decriminalized Section 377 and made homosexuality legal. It’s been a year since this law has passed and many people have come up with their gay or lesbian partners openly. Slowly and gradually now India is accepting same-sex marriages.

Few years back people need to leave the country to register their relationship but now the Indian government has given them the rights to freely express their love and get married.

There are many examples of Indian gay-couples who got married in the past year. A few months back the owner of Lalit Hotel Keshav Suri got married to his gay partner Cyril Fuillebois in Paris with the traditional Indian rituals. The two have been in a relationship for 10 years and finally announced their wedding on social media. When this news was out the country accepted positively and congratulated them.

In the past year, many other same-sex couples came up frankly and shared their relationship. Recently a Hindu-Pakistani lesbian couple Sundas Malik and Anjali Chakra came up on social media and shared their pictures which got viral for all the rights reasons.

Few days back the lawyers Menaka Guruswamy and Arundhati Khatju involved in the bench of Section 377 came up as the lesbian couple.

Slowly and gradually India is accepting homosexuality and promoting the rights for same-sex marriage.  As people here in India are so much attached to their roots that this will take time for everyone to accept homosexuality easily. There are people who do not want to accept the change. As we are developing and social media is trending people are accepting the change happily.
